New!

A heartfelt thank-you goes out to all of the residents of
Gloucester County who contacted our state representatives regarding the
proposed cuts to funding for New Jersey libraries. Your message was heard,
and a compromise to the State Budget has restored much of the funding.
The Woodbury Public Library truly could not exist without the support of our
community. THANK YOU!
Friends of the Library Raffle

The
Friends the Woodbury Public Library recently held a raffle to help fund
improvements to library furnishings. Winners were drawn at random on Friday
July 2, and the first place winner was Hazel Skinner. Mrs. Skinner selected the
Amazon Kindle as her prize. Second place went to Bonnie Dann, who chose the 4
Phillies tickets. The third place winner was Kimberly Heughan, and she selected
the basket of children's books. Douglas Adams, in 4th place, received The
Twilight Saga, a complete hardback set of the popular Stephanie Meyer series.
We'd like to extend our thanks to everyone who purchased a ticket and helped the
Friends help the library!

New Communities Joining LOGIN

We are very happy to announce that we're welcoming four new communities, Monroe
Township, Washington Township, Paulsboro and Pitman into our LOGIN Library
Consortium. The Margaret E. Heggan Library of Washington Township, the McCowan
Memorial Library of Pitman, the Monroe Township Free Public Library in
Williamstown and the Gill Memorial Library in Paulsboro have now completed their
conversions. Your Woodbury Public Library card can now be used at 20 LOGIN
member libraries by visiting their facilities in person, or by requesting
material to be shipped to Woodbury for pickup. This means you can borrow
material from every public library in Gloucester County! The LOGIN Consortium is
a win/win situation for all library users, and a great example of the best use
of your tax dollars.
Stop Hunger Drop-Off Center

Did you every want to really help someone? The Woodbury Public Library is a drop
off center for non-perishable foods that will be distributed to the local food
bank. We have a large metal container just waiting for your generous donations.
Next time you visit the library bring a food item to help your neighbors.
Do We Have the Book Group for You!

The library has seen the attendance at our original book group grow so much that
we started a second one. We now offer an evening book group that meets the
second Wednesday of every month at 7 PM, and an afternoon book group that meets
the second Tuesday of every month at 1 pm.
The best words to describe these groups
are 'fun' and 'informal'. There are lots of laughs to go along with discussion,
and a variety of opinions on the latest book we’ve read. Both groups are open to
all adults, and the library can obtain a copy of the book selection for
all interested participants. For more information on our book discussion groups
and our current title selections, please visit use this
link to Readers Circle.
Knitting for Relaxation Program

Ever want to learn how to knit? The Woodbury Public Library holds a knitting
club to teach the basics of knitting on the first Monday of every month. There
is no fee; this program is sponsored by the Kennedy Health System. Please call
the library at (856) 845-2611 to reserve a space.
Classroom visits

Our new Children's Program Coordinator, Mary Johnson, is available for visits to
school classrooms any time during the school year. Teachers or school
administrators, please call the library at (856) 845-2611 for more information
or to arrange a visit. For more information on the library's children's
programming, see
Just for Kids!
Book Dedications

If you are looking for the perfect gift for someone who has everything or in
memory of someone special to you, consider donating a book in their honor to the
Woodbury Public Library. For a $25 donation to the The
Friends of the Woodbury Public Library, a book on the subject of your choice
will be purchased and book-plated to reflect your gift. All donations to the
Friends of the Library are tax deductible. For more information please call the
library at (856) 845-2611.
Sponsor a Library Magazine Subscription

Do you have a favorite magazine? The Woodbury Public Library offers over 80
different magazines at a cost of over $2,800 per year. Would you consider
sponsoring the cost of a year's subscription to one of these magazines? A list
of magazines and their cost is located at the circulation desk. All
contributions are tax deductible.
We need your used books and magazines!

The Woodbury Public Library welcomes all donations. They are either added to the
collection, sold, or given away. If you have books and magazines in good
condition, please bring them to the library during operating hours.
Meet at the Library

The library offers two small conference
rooms, located on the second floor. These are suitable for tutors and students,
quiet study, or other meetings of up to 4 individuals. Electric outlets are
available in these rooms for patrons to plug in equipment such as laptop
computers. Quiet study rooms may be reserved in advance by calling the library
at (856) 845-2611. When these rooms are not already reserved, they are available
to patrons by signing in at the Circulation Desk.
The
library also offers a larger public meeting room. This is most suitable for
meetings of 8 to 15 people, but has accommodated up to 30. There is also an A/V
cart with a television and VCR available for public screenings in this room. A
variety of local clubs and organizations regularly use this space for meetings,
so interested parties should reserve it in advance by speaking with the Library
Director, Jean Wipf.
All library meeting rooms are available during
regular library hours, and are for non-profit use only.
