With the Woodbury Public Library’s Museum Pass Program, adult cardholders who reside in Woodbury can check out passes to several local institutions. The Battleship New Jersey
Each pass admits up to two adults and up to 3 children free of charge, and goes out for 4 days at a time. Berthed at the Camden waterfront, the Battleship New Jersey is great for all ages. From the moment you step on board you will understand that this is a museum where visitors take an active role. Not only do you see artifacts from the ship’s past, but you are put into the exhibit as you go through the tour route. Sit in the chair from which Admiral Halsey commanded the fleet. Stretch out on the bunks where the sailors slept. Climb into the 16” gun turret and learn how the projectiles were loaded. Each step brings you closer to understanding what life was like for a sailor on the Battleship New Jersey. Battleship New Jersey is located at 100 Clinton Street, Camden, NJ 08103. The Battleship is open 7 days a week, but operating hours vary seasonally. Garden State Discovery Museum
This pass admits up to six people free of charge, and goes out for 4 days at a time. Located in Cherry Hill, The Garden State Discovery Museum is one of South Jersey’s largest attractions for family fun. It’s ideal for kids ages infant through 10 years old, and features over 20 giant kid-powered hands-on exhibits. Whether your children love to explore science, get down & dirty making arts and crafts, be the hero of their own story, or wear the chef’s coat for a day, the GSDM is the place to be! The Garden State Discovery Museum is located at 2040 Springdale Road in Cherry Hill. It’s open 7 days a week; operating hours vary seasonally. The Academy of Natural Sciences
At the Academy of Natural Sciences, you can wander among towering dinosaur skeletons, discover an indoor tropical butterfly garden, explore the world through our historic dioramas, or be transported to the great outdoors through our hands-on discovery center for children. The Academy is located at 1900 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia PA 19103. Their operating hours are 10 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, and 10 am to 5:00 pm on weekends and holidays. This library museum pass includes free general admission to the Academy for two adults and up to 5 children. It also includes a 10% discount in the Academy Shop and Academy Café. Independence Seaport Museum
Independence Seaport Museum is your gateway to waterfront fun. Maneuver an underwater robotic vehicle, fire a mock cannon and explore US Naval history. Climb aboard two National Historic Landmark ships, the 1892 Cruiser Olympia and the WWII Submarine Becuna. Visit the Boat Shop to see working boat builders in action. Discover the atmosphere of Philly’s historic shipyards with Diligence, the first indoor gunboat built in Philadelphia.
This pass is valid for up to 4 General Admission tickets per visit. The museum is located at Penn’s Landing, 211 S. Columbus Blvd. in Philly. They are open daily from 10 am to 5 pm; on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from Memorial Day to Labor Day the historic ships also remain open until 7:00 PM. The Gloucester County Historical Society Library/Hunter-Lawrence-Jessup House Museum
The Gloucester County Historical Society’s Hunter-Lawrence-Jessup House Museum hosts a collection of artifacts relating to the history of the area. Tour the museum and view military artifacts, textiles, furniture, glass and much more. The Hunter-Lawrence-Jessup House Museum is located at 58 N. Broad St. in Woodbury, and their phone number is (856) 848-8531. Hours are: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1 to 4 pm, and the last Sunday of each month from 2 to 5 pm.
The Gloucester County Historical Society Library is the repository of one of the largest genealogical collections in Southern New Jersey. Visit the library to search for the history of your town, home or family. Peruse their newspaper collection, genealogical manuscripts, family papers, photographs and maps. The Historical Society Library is located behind the Museum, at 17 Hunter Street. Their hours are Tuesday from 6 to 9:30 pm; Wed. thru Fri. from 10 am to 4 pm; the first Saturday of each month (Oct. thru May) from 10 am to 4 pm; and the last Sunday of each month from 2 to 5 pm.
